Andy

Andy started with British Rail in 1986 on the Youth Training Scheme. In 1987 he was working with the renowned Jim Bidwell on the platform at Twyord Station. Andy was promoted to the grade of Guard at Reading in 1987, before entering the signalling Grade in 1989 at Greenford SB. He moved from Greenford to Slough Panel in 1990, spent three weeks at Westbury in February 1992, then moved to Old Oak Common PSB where he remained until 1994.
Andy was one of the first Hayes Mobile Operations Managers in 1994, working alongside Frank Jones, Mike Keily and Andy Pullen. A need for Ops PICOPs at Hayes in 1995 saw another change of direction for Andy, then in 1997 he was involved in the Heathrow Express Commissioning, where he worked for Heathrow Express while they commissioned the tunnels and the trains. A need for PICOPs for the Euston Remodelling in 1998 gave Andy a short break from the Western, but he was back in 1998 when he gained promotion to Shift Performance Manager at Reading Panel, then when that post was made redundant he worked the Panel as a Signalman. Andy moved to Slough IECC in 200, then gained promotion again to Signaller Manager at Bristol in June 2003, a position he continues to occupy.
Andy currently lives in Wellington, Somerset, with his wife and two children.
