Peter "Sticky" Lutak

Peter was proud to follow his father's example and join the railway - initially at Worcester as a Trainee Technician in the S&T Department. In October 1990 he moved to Reading to join the Reading Area Office in Western Tower, working in a Technical Support position - a role he was to fill for the rest of his life. He excelled in this field and his expertise became especially sought after for Hot Axle Box Detectors and Automatic Train Protection. With closure of the offices in Western Tower and then Kings Point, he moved to join us in Reading Panel. In September 2002 (his last day at Reading was 27th September 2002) he moved back to his native Worcester, a move which saved him many miles of travelling up and down the Cotswold line! He was still in this job when he was taken ill on 10th September 2007 and tragically passed away on 22nd September. He was only 35 years old and his funeral in Worcester on 5th October was attended by his many work colleagues - on a fittingly glorious sunny day.

Note: The "Sticky" epithet was unique to his work colleagues in Reading. It referred simply to the similarity of his surname to "Bluetak" and was in no way a stain on his character. To his friends and family in Worcester he was always "Loui".
