Bob started work for British Rail in October 1978 as a Porter at Swindon Station. In 1979 he was promoted to Ticket Collector, before joining the Signalling Grades as a Class 2 Relief Signalman at Swindon Panel in 1980. He then joined the regular Signalmen at Swindon Panel as a Class E signalman in 1982. Bob then moved to Reading as a Relief Signalman in 1992, then to Swindon B IECC in 2002 before returning to his roots at Swindon A in 2004. Bob plans to retire - just as soon as they close Swindon A box.
