Mike joined the railway industry in 1989 as a RTS trainee. The following year, realising that signalling was the way forward, he was appointed as a signalman at Ledbury. Soon after he was promoted to work at Droitwich Spa before further promotion to Gloucester Panel in 1992. In 1998, Mike moved to Swindon B IECC where he has worked until his move to Reading Panel in July 2006.
