Rocket started work for British Rail in September 1990 as a Railman at Reading Station. He progressed to Leading Railman, then Chargeman, before transferring to the Operations side as a Class 2 Relief Signalman. In 1994 Rocket moved to the Crossings, as a Relief Crossing Keeper based at Colthrop. In 1999 Rocket left the warmth of the Crossings for a new position as a Rapid Response Supervisor at Oxford. He is currently covering the role of Reading Mobile Operations Manager on a temporary basis, and is hoping that the job will soon be made permanent.
