Stewart started with British Rail in 1984 with the Youth Training Scheme at Basingstoke Station on the Southern Region. Stewart also worked in the Train Enquiry Bureau at London Waterloo. From there he tried his hand at train announcing, first at Waterloo (1986) then at Reading on the Western Region (1988). Stewart's first signalling post was at Aynho Junction Signal Box in 1989, before moving to Reading PSB in 1990. In February 2008, Stewart surprised everyone with the announcement that he had passed his driving test - his HGV driving test!! Congrats Stewart...
